Helix Autosport's Sporting Aluminium Flywheels are manufactured using the highest quality 6061 T6 and 6082 T6 billet Aluminium and are fully CNC machined for total accuracy. These materials offer superb strength, heat dissipation and enable them to achieve their lightweight characteristics. The friction plate are is made from heat treated carbon steel which will allow the use of all types of clutch facing material, including organic, Kevlar, sintered iron and cerametallic type clutches.

The surface plate is attached to the flywheel with aerospace grade fasteners, this design means thet if and when the plate becomes worn this part can be replaced without renewing the complete flywheel. The ring gear is heat shrunk on to the flysheel and for extra security is secured with high tensile button screws.

Lightweight flywheels require a lot less horsepower to rotate than standard flywheels, this saving in wasted power can dramatically increase the accelerative capabilities of an otherwise standard engine, in many cases the equivalent of an additional 25bhp.

Please note: When replacing a twin mass flywheel with a solid aluminium item, the standard rigid clutch plate must be replaced with a sprung type clutch plate to ensure a smooth take up of power on the transmission.
